Please help find a cure for arthritis.

I am participating in the 2009 Arthritis Walk in North Mankato on May 2 in Cole’s honor. It is my hope that a cure for arthritis will someday be found.

In 1986, Cole was diagnosed with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis at the age of 18 months. He would cry when he tried to walk in the mornings. The doctor could feel inflammation in his joints. He was put on medication and we did range of motion exercises. In 1999, Cole had surgery (fusions) on both of his wrists to stabilize them.

Arthritis has not only affected Cole’s joints. In 2004, Cole was having shortness of breath and through tests, we found out that his lungs were full of areas of inflammation. He took a high dose of prednisone for a short period of time which stopped the inflammation. We have recently found out that his liver is now full of these areas of inflammation. This was found through routine blood tests that the alkaline in his blood is high. We are waiting to hear from doctors at the Mayo Clinic as to what treatment they are going to recommend.

Cole is pursuing a degree in Sport Management at Minnesota State University, Mankato. He loves sports but wasn't able to participate in school. This past season, he did an internship with the Minnesota Vikings working at all home games. He also worked at the Vikings Training Camp in Mankato last summer. He hopes to work for a professional sports team when he finishes school.

I admire Cole for all he has been through and still never complains. Please help me raise money to find a cure for arthritis. Any amount would be greatly appreciated.
